How to Connect Tevello to ChatGPT, Claude & Other AI Apps (MCP Beta)

Purpose

This SOP explains how to connect Tevello to ChatGPT, Claude, or another AI application that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol).

Note: Tevello MCP is currently in Public Beta. Features may continue to evolve based on feedback and ongoing improvements.

Benefits of Using Tevello MCP

Once connected, your AI can both read and edit your Tevello data. You can ask it to:

Create and edit content – add or update courses, modules and lessons, including lesson text, quiz questions and answers, in one lesson or across a whole course.
Manage members – enrol or remove members, set access expiry, and update a member's progress, one at a time or in bulk.
Upload media – add videos and files to lessons from a URL, and add video captions and chapters.
Track member progress – quickly see who has completed lessons and who may need a nudge.
Review quiz results – access answers, scores, and reflections faster.
View course structure – see modules, lessons, and quizzes at a glance.
Check community activity – summarize recent posts, comments, and reactions, or post on your behalf.

Tip: for large changes, such as reformatting hundreds of quiz questions, work in smaller pieces (one module or one quiz per conversation). AI apps have a limit on how much text they can hold at once, and smaller pieces also use less of your AI plan.

Step 1: Open Tevello then Go to Settings

From your Shopify admin, open the Tevello app, click Settings.

Step 2: Open Integrations

Scroll down until you reach the Integrations section. Look for AI/MCP.

Step 3: Copy the MCP Server URL

Under AI / MCP (Beta), copy your MCP Server URL.

MCP Server URL:https://mcp.tevello.com/mcpThis is the URL you'll paste into any AI app that supports MCP.

Step 4: Paste It Into Your AI App

Open ChatGPT, Claude, or another MCP-compatible AI app, add a new MCP server, and paste the copied URL.

Note: Once connected, your AI app can securely access your Tevello courses and community data through MCP.

Step 5: Test the Connection

Ask your AI assistant a question about your Tevello data, such as:

"Show me the structure of my courses."
"Which members haven't finished their lessons?"
"Summarize the latest activity in my community."
"Add a line break after every sentence in the questions of my quiz lesson X."

Using the MCP from a script or other tool

The MCP works with any app or tool that supports MCP, not only chat assistants. A script of your own can connect to it too, which is handy for large or repeated changes.

Sign-in is the same browser login you used for Claude or ChatGPT, so there is no API key to request. The first time your script runs it opens the Tevello login in your browser; after you approve it, it keeps its own access and runs on its own from then on.

If you want a script, ask your AI to write one using the official MCP client library for your language and give it the MCP Server URL from Step 3. Each store is limited to about 120 requests per minute, so keep large jobs in small batches.
